Mike Murphy’s Short Bio
Mike Murphy was born in New Mexico, raised in Texas and transplanted to Utah where he has taught at Viewmont High School for 35 years. He developed a guitar program there that is one of the largest in the U.S. Mike began playing guitar when he was 12 years old and has performed in bands and as a solo performer in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. He met his wife of 37 years while performing at a resort in Colorado in 1971, after which he finished a music degree at Texas Tech University and moved to Utah in 1974. In 1985 he released his first album of original songs and now has four albums including "Standing at a Crossroad" (1996) and "Friends" (2001). Friends
2001
The album "Friends"(2001) contains a lot of songs that have great meaning to me. The title song was written about a teacher friend of mine who passed away from breast cancer back in the 80's.
Standing at the Crossroads
1996
Standing at a Crossroads (1996) came at a time of change in my life. I was in the process of changing the focus in my teaching career, moving out of the area I had taught in for 22 years and increasing my class load in another area.
